Late interiors are nicer. However, the early cars tend to be lighter. '83s have manual steering and sunroof, which are always pluses. The A-arm design makes balljoint replacements easier than the later cars. Since the only downsides are the ventilation and interior design, they make great track cars, being lighter and simpler from the start. Combine that with the fact that the earliest 944s are starting to become "classics," and their value is actually on a slight rebound.
