Ignoring the "political suicide" comments of the media, if the Governator had intervened then every deathrow inmate would be writing childrens books then screaming for clemency.

IMO, Prison was never meant to be a rehab program. It was meant to be a place where convicts repay a debt to society. Tookie's debt is now paid.
