Replace all the shift bushings at the same time.
1. shift lever ball cup bushing
2. linkage bushing
3. and shift coupler bushings
I replace the shift coupler bushings with the "poly bronze" bushings. No more slop. There is an increase in tranny noise transfered into the engine compartment. It doesn't bother me, but it is noticeable.
