Harsh law for french motorcyclists

A couple of decades ago in France, the socialist government decided that riders were having far too much fun on their bikes. So they put in a law that forbade motorcycles from having more than 100 hp!

So, despite the European Union wanting equality between nations, France continues "downgrading" motorcycles to 100hp. So far, not really a big problem, since you could quite easily reinstate the motorcycle to it's original power - as just about every French rider did.

The French Parliament voted a new law last Thursday (in stealth mode), that if you're caught with a motorcycle over 100hp, you'll get 2 year gaol, 30,000 euro (almost $50,000 AUS) fine and your motorcycle confiscated! Obviously this only applies to French registered motorcycles. If you have a foreign registered bike, you can visit and use your 180 hp bike at any time.

Motorcycling rights and law ridiculousness is on attack around the globe.
