The problem with internet forums is the low barriers to entry, so what starts out as a really good group of knowledgeable people tends to turn into a muck of 15-year-olds wasting time after a few years of popularity. The OT boards seem to be the worst (PP OT mostly excepted since there are thoughtful people on here). It'd tough to find marque-specific boards that aren't dominated by people asking about rimZzZ.
Anyway, you don't really know what else is going on with this guy. This may have been the last straw that sent him off the board, or he might just need time to cool down. He might have turned off all the notifier emails so he doesn't even know that you sent him a PM. If he was really that active on the board, I'd say wait and let him get back to you.
