I thought I should send my cyber-family a Christmas card. This is a picture of my kids. It's not a great picture, but it captures their personalitys pretty well. Justin and Anna are taking their little sister Brynn for a ride on the steam train at Tilden Park.
I am recovering from shoulder surgery last Thursday. It was worse than expected. I had two complete tears of the cartilage and some damage to the biceps tendon. My surgeons are also the team docs for the Oakland A's, but they wouldn't guarantee a 90 MPH splitter. Oh, well. They took great care of me. I had a scalene nerve block that kept me comfortably numb for 24 hours. I haven't used any pain meds except Ibuprofen since surgery despite having 4 bone screws and a few loops of monofilament in my shoulder. They really did an outstanding job. I still can't sleep lying down and I'm wearing a sling. I still have a lot of pain, but my recovery is going beautifully. In the operating room, I can't do any retraction or drive in trocars, but I can cut and sew like Betsy freakin' Ross!
So much to be thankful for this year, including all of you. You keep me thinking and laughing. Thank you.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and God bless you.
