Though I still am hard pressed to see it happen, I think the magnitude of the attack required to throw our country into the dark ages is beyond what a these terrorists can muster. Even the destruction of a major US city, horrible as it would be, wouldn't be enough to cause the social structure and authority in the rest of the nation to vaporize. I'm sure there would be looting, violence, and general unrest, but I believe that we would be able to recover.
I think we all have it in us, just some hide it better than others.

Agree with most of the above. Myself will either head to the mountains, 90 minutes drive North, or Mexico, 4 hours drive South.
One thing that does worry me is a dirty bomb, which if set off correctly could blow radiation over a wide part of the country. Set it off 30 miles West of Phoenix and the nuke powerplant as well as Phoenix would get a full dose if the winds are as they usually are. Same with Wichita, and doing that would cut our aircraft production by 50% for years. A rented Ryder truck full of diesel fuel and fertilizer (where have we heard that before) with 2-3 obsolete x-ray machines inside and things could get nasty.
We just need to catch them before or in the act. Personally I would prefer to overhear them talking about it, then bust them as they are putting it together. Doing things at the last minute is too late for this old fart...
