No, democracy isn't some fairy dust solution. Giving people the ability to vote when they are ignorant and fearful results in repressive governments. Iran is the model for where Iraq will go: a fundamentalist Islamic government.
Except that Iraq has the further problem of three ethnic/religious groups that hate each other...
