i think what he had become was because he lived at home and that compounded his unhappiness leading to his "checking out". a real shame, as he did much better in school than some of the guys we all ran with, including me, and we all amounted to more than him. he was really depressed and ready to go at the end, other people and i had discussed it a few weeks prior to him passing.

I think that a lot of the blame for something like that is the parents. Some 'Tough Love' might have saved him, especially since he had exhibited the potential in school.
