Just to chime in here. I have a targa to coupe conversion that was originally done by TRE Motorsports. They fabricated the roof for me which included the cowl all the way back to the tail. You will need to fab in the rear quarter windows, but I can tell you the piece is light!

I run with a stock windshield too and the fitment was very good. Unfortunately I can also attest to the car's ability to take a hit and have the roof stay on.

Although I lost a quarter window, The roof stayed intact when we hit a rock (think cliff face) in the PS rear quarter going 90 or so MPH. Ugly hit that crumpled the floor pan forward by a foot or so. The cage does its work. I like the idea of being able to complete all of the welds on the cage. It also will lower your center of gravity and you get to cut out alot of steel.

The fiberglass roof pieces GT sells are nice, but having the cowl FG is a real weight saver. Besides, it allowed me to put in a cool single wiper...
