Did you order this cable from our host? I did and had the same problem. Damn thing just would not fit on there, and the access is so horrible you can barely get one finger in there.
My old one wasn't broken though, just stiff, so I WD40'd the crap out of it and managed to reuse it. The new one is still sitting in my garage in a forlorn heap. I'd go back to your supplier and explain the situation...
