You don't say what year motor your 3.0 is. If its the pre-80(?) with the big "cam nut" and the cams with the flats, use the cam holding tool to rotate the cam. Later ones use a bolt instead of the big nut.
Are you joking about breaking off sprocket teeth? If you actually broke off teeth you are using
way too much force.
Could you give us a little history on how you got to this point i.e. changed a chain tensioner with all the rockers in, rebuilding the top end, etc?
