Eeewwww... I have dim and grim memories of some kind of "Kamikaze" beverage consumed with sushi, both in mass quantities, which was a large Sapporo or Kirin into which a shot of sake was plunged and then tossed back as quickly as possible.

Let's just say this led to subsequent projectile emission of said sushi, beer and sake in apartment of 'friend' that inspired these evening activies. It was ugly, from what I remember, which is not much.

These days, I do enjoy sushi every so often but stick to either sake, or beer, but not both...

Anyways, when on the road solo I don't typically do much different from when at home...try to eat well, maybe a cocktail or glass (or 2 or 3) of wine, and maybe a cigar if it's been an especially good day.

I'm not precisely sure, but I think my 'record' for a solo meal cost on a biz trip stands around $140-ish. When I'm billing clients, I usually need to keep it substantially lower depending on their per-diem rates. How do you guys deal with that aspect and/or 'favorably depict' the charges? Admittedly I've done the 'oh yeah, I took the customer out' story before.
