about $600, i don't think it will need it. check the coolant, it is red(at least it should be) and make sure it is not low, that is gonna be pretty normal condition i think. typical blown headgastets on vw's are really leaky, oil wise or the go big in terms of using oil. 1 thing to look into is that if you bought it new, it may be a warrantable condition if the gasket is bad....also be aware that vw had a recall on some cars with 2.0 motors for having the piston rings installed upside down! depending on it, they may replace the engine if yours was affected, or rering it. also make sure that the car has a clean air filter(that effects the amount of condensation beleive it or not)
