QUOTE FROM THREAD
"Made a fool of by a fellow 944 Rennlister
Don't know how long this thread will last here, and who knows if I'll get banned for this, but here goes...
Last June (2005), someone started a thread stating that hey had a 944 component that I wanted for sale. Being the first person to answer the thread, I was deemed the 'winner' of said component. The seller agreed to sell the product to me. Yahoo! The price was right, and I was glad to be able to finally go ahead with my upgrade plans.
After a couple of PM's and emails, and a phone call or two, we started planning on when/where to complete the transaction. The seller was a couple of hours north of me, but he said he travels through my area time and again. We'd be able to meet at a Parkway/Thruway rest area and complete the deal. No biggie - I could wait a month or so to start my upgrade.
A few weeks pass - I send the seller a PM asking what's going on - "Been busy - but we're still on" was the reply. This went back and forth a few times.
Sometime in fall, I get a very peculiar PM from someone claiming that the component that was promised to me was sold to him. He described the items to a tee. He was also told to keep quiet about the deal. The seller said something like: "Still, we made a deal about you not saying anything to anyone about this. The guy who I had made the deal with is a well respected member, and I don’t need to start a big **** fight over this. I tried to help you out because you really wanted the suspension, and I don’t want this to become something it shouldn’t. Okay? "
Now emails can be easily fabricated, and I was skeptical. But I didn't have the product in my hand, so I was wondering if it was true... When I got this information, I PM'd the seller when I'd be able to take delivery of the product to see what's going on. His response to me was something to the tune of "Yeah - they are in storage - I'll dig them up for you this weekend. That was in October.
November & December I send the seller some PM's with similar responses - I'm busy right now...will get to it this weekend...gotta go away with work this week...etc.
So it's January, and still no sight of word of the whereabouts of the components that the seller agreed to sell me. Plus I've been getting PM's from other regular 944 posters that affirm the fact that the seller did indeed sell the components to someone else even though it was promised to me.
Now, fortunately, I don't buy things sight unseen. Perhaps that's why the seller decided to sell the components to someone else. It's not that I don't have the $$ - the asking price was $250.00. I'm not a teenager with a part time job - I have a well paying job, make a mortgage payment, good investments, nice 401k...etc. I just don't pay for things until I have a chance to see them and actually take possession of them. Apparently, that didn't jive with the seller, even though he said it wasn't a problem - that he'd take the cash when I took possesion of the stuff.
Ok, so I wasn't swindled since I didn't loose any money on the deal. But I have been made a mockery of here. To my knowledge, there are at least three or four people who are familiar with the ins and outs of this story. They know who the players are and how the seller sold this component to someone else after promising to sell them to me. In my book - that's not the right way to deal with people - espeically in a close knit community as this forum here on Rennlist.
It would have been better for the seller to let me know that the struts are gone - my upgrade project has been delayed for half a year due to this. Besides that, it will cost me more now to do the upgrade. I can understand him wanting to make more money on a deal, but the way he dealt with me is unethical and disrespectful.
I have enough evidence to post this thread here. I've got copies of emails from the seller to the buyer of the components, as well as other PM's and emails from people who helped to fill in the blanks in this sordid tale.
Now we do get trolls that come here and post and scam us - this fellow isn't one of them. He's got over 2,500 posts here, is a member of Rennlist and is well known amongst us. As a matter of fact, this person is a moderator of the 944 forums.
To have someone in authority at Rennlist pull a fast one like this on me - I will not tolerate. The guy's willing to lie and go behind my back, yet we're supposed to trust his judgement as a moderator? He's supposed to mediate in issues when he himself behaves unethically? That is inappropriate behavior.

If the above is all true, then I am calling for Ted Wright to step down as moderator here at Rennlist.
John D has been notified of this thread.
If it is not true, then Ted Wright needs to speak up and explain what's going on. And if he can make arrangements to deliver the Koni coil over struts to me then I will respond here and apologyze for any false accusation.
Ted - the ball is in your court.
I will not be made a fool here amongst my fellow 944 enthusiasts.
-Z-man.
