Wow, where to start?
OBL is hiding in Pakistan. A country that we need more than needs us. It's president (dictator, really) has a tenuous grip on power, and we are very unpopular with the general populace. Allowing ground forces in would be political suicide for Musharraf. That leaves OBL hiding in a place where we can't get to him.
We could charge in, but OBL would run. This very act could very well destablilize the marginally cooperative Pakistani government and would almost certainly be replaced with something much less friendly. By the time we located OBL, we'd be very less welcome than we were when we charged in. I thought you were all against causing the overthrow of unsavory dictators?
Bottom line is, our only real strategy is to wait for OBL to slip up. Do you think we are not doing this?
