Zoltan - I agree with you except for two things - tons of C-classes out here - hatches are fairly common, too. Tons of kids driving them, as well. M-B made some cash with the bottom line and young-ins introducing themselves to the brand - again at least in L.A.
$42K for an entry-level Cayenne seems about right. One manufacturer's entry level isn't the same as another's. Yukons with leather and other niceties are $40-$45K. Volvo is the same, as is M-B (I think). Downmarket to me means exclusivity is no longer a built-in into either the product or the consumer who buys the product. Ferrari comes to mind as exclusively high-end with no chance of downmarket. That was what Maseratti and more likely, Fiat was for.
