Now that this has moved to OT – in more ways than one . . . back to the off-topic topic . . .
The reality is that most Americans know little to nothing about Canada other than it is to the north & it’s cold & some of us speak French. Oh yeah & Toronto is clean, Montreal has great bars & Vancouver is beautiful. That’s it. Even American weather maps stop at the border. We are a non-entity. Not even important enough to be irritating. An also-ran in the great geopolitical scheme of things to most Americans. Not all, of course, just most.
I work & travel in the US almost weekly, so I have heard it all.
The next level of knowledge is: We have mad cow. We are an avenue for terrorism. Our military is non-existent and/or comical. We have a Queen. Our ‘Frenchies’ are always upset. And our skiing, hunting, fishing & beer are pretty good.
And I too am a dual citizen (by birth) & have always felt free to criticize both countries, although I decided to show restraint on this forum even though . . . well, enough of that . . .
