Thanks guys for all your advice. I may still go and see the car and drive it -- I really do want a 911 (or 912) not a 944.. even if it means saving..
I am also going to see this 911SC targa /salvage title for 6k..
BTW I saw that same article in Excellence on buying an older Porsche--
strategies and I loved it! I wish it was longer and/or talked more about dealing with rust etc..
