If the head had been off it certainly wasn't torqued back up properly! Overheated and warped the head? Probably. Oil cooler seals went? Probably.
Last time I saw a rod bearing that bad was when my wife and I dropped the pan on her 931. I'm assuming that's the #2 journal...
