The stock Becker CDR 210 in Ginger was functional, but I hated the rocker switches. I found a clean CDR 220 out of a 996/Boxster and proceded.
The 210 without faceplate:
I made a couple of removal keys. I won't advocate this cuz you could damage the unit. When the tabs disengage, push the unit from the back:
Disconnect the 3 harness plugs and antenna. I saw a real opportunity to scar the kneepad/dash so I used masking tape on the area around the radio for protection:
For the 220 to fit, you must remove the cage that the 210 sat in. There are 8 tabs (there are 2 different types of tabs) that hold the cage in. Bend them out of the way:
