"The Thin Green Line," a report commissioned by the Pentagon and written an ex-officer (and immediately discounted by Rumsfeld because of its conclusions), says that America is stretched to the breaking point militarily. If this goes on much longer, there will be irreparable damage.
All to make Iraq safe for the "Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq," the overwhelming winner in the most recent elections.
If you set out to establish the most absurd and tragic military and foreign policy you could dream up, I don't think you would come close to where Bush/Cheney has America at the moment.
