Uhh. They are in the military aren't they? These aren't the UPS girls posing for a poster.
And what does it mean when guys pose as if they're trying out for a Dirty Harry movie? Would that be a case of overcompensating?

Agreed except for the Brokedick.
As you said, they are in the military and wearing a gun on their hip or shoulder harness to boot.
Putting on a flight suit and flying into harms way changes you a bit and if you do not stand a bit proud and straighter with the wings on your chest and an American flag on your shoulder, well, there is something wrong with you IMHO.
