x3, nobody is questioning your unit.
we believe it works. And probably works well.
The fact of the reality, and the wrench in the gears so to speak, is our 20+ year old transmissions.... Tifo (i believe it was...) was right when he said these things wear down under REGULAR use... and it's a commonly known fact to know the risk that they might explode if even slightly abused. Hell, I'm sure i could do a 3k launch a few times in a row and blow mine to bits.
but you have to be a realist. Who is going to spend 4k on a nice example of a 944, 2k for your supercharger 'kit', 1k (or whatever.. never priced) on a Turbo transmission? That's $7000 that can be spent on a pretty decent example of a 944 Turbo..
It all boils down to the question "how do I turbo my n/a?"
nobody ever says it *cant* be done.. it just isn't cost effective on these cars.
I applaud you for taking the time and energy for at least supplying owners a choice.. It's commendable, and will suit those who hold their current 944 dear to their hearts and not want to give it up...
but for people like me who would have the choice between modifying my current car, and going out and paying for a turbo with an updated interior, updated brakes, air bag possibly, better front bumper/rear wing, and a load more horsepower than your 6psi estimates........ well, my choice would be simple. At least then i could put the 3.5k or whatever i could get for my car towards buying the turbo and only have to drop 4k or so on top of that.
