Looks like fun Len. Is Honda building off the shelf "supermoto" bikes?
I wonder what the laws are regarding converting a new fangled four stroke MX bike into a street legal bike? I would not mind owning a semi-street legal CRF450. With a simple wheel change, one could have the best of both worlds with no compromise on the dirt side!

It's not very difficult depending on the state Tim. In fact you can license up a two stroke MX bike just as easily. In Michigan you simply need an officer to do a checklist when you're ready (no excessive smoke, has signals, road tires, etc..) and you done.
I considered going that route as well, but I have spoken to many regarding maintenance and they say "too much".
When I raced MX I did a full P/M schedule on my bikes after every race, I would hate to do that every other day. Not to mention the top-ends I would go through cruising at highish revs for extended periods.
The SMR510 is interesting, but I have been told that if 50% or more of your riding is street vs track,"forget it". It's really a race bike w/lights and needs lots of tending to. I will ask some more though, thanks.
Also, yes Honda will be doing a street-moto soon too, but it's just an XR400 w/moto gear. Suzuki already has one, bt it's also a house cat vs a jungle cat if you know what I mean.
