I wouldn't defend the freedom of a child to fart at the dinner table, nor would I defend the right of a second child to peg the first with a potato for having done so...
If you think it eloquent or just to support either party in such matters, than such right is surely available as much to you as it is to the farting or pegging children.
Personally, I think that they should both be spanked and sent to bed without supper.
