having had two in college at the same time I will say absolutely the college years were fiscal murder. Tuition, car insurance, clothing, an appropriate allowance. Yes my kids worked during school but those jobs only covered gas,oil and maintenance for the cars THEY purchased. The college years easily cost $300K total
