I read a short story on that problem long ago...I think I actually read the short stories in a PLAYBOY issue once. Anyway, in this short story, the last barking dog to leave the area did so with many helium balloons tied to his harness...The first to leave took a one way ride to a Vet some distance away, accompanied with a story of a cross country job transfer, and "Well, Rex isn't getting any younger..." The others were disposed of in various clever ways. Some nights here, while trying to get to sleep, I often remember that story...and fantasize.
