Umm, wrong district....by about 20 miles.
The district in question is in the heart of DuPage county, perhaps one of the most solidly Republican districts in the country, although it is changing. The only machine there is overwhelmingly Republican. Henry Hyde, (he of "youthful indiscretion" in his mid'40's...) has held the seat for almost 3 decades. I don't recall that there is a single countywide seat that is not currently held by the GOP there.
Assuming she wins the primary, she would still have very long odds of winning against the GOP in the general election.
In any event, she's a neophyte with a compelling story that has been annointed by the national party a bit prematurely, IMO. She's not even the
most interesting Democartic candidate in the primary.
