No, they serve unrelated functions, the 964 used a harmonic balancer to address some issues specific to the 964 crank, a 993 does not have those issues.

The dual mass flywheel was intended to address transmission gear rattling issues(as was the original rubber center clutch)

no, the difference is between 964 and 993

993 Cup cars did use the harmonic balancer but I believe that was because of production line expediancy related to the early date of their manufacture
