The Iranian *****e Muslims have no love for the Sunnis. Iranians are not Arabs, they are Persians. Iran did condem 911 and were helping get rid of Al Qaeda.
Iran sees Hezbola and the PLO as Freedom Fighters trying to rid themselves of the Jewish occupiers while the US sees these groups as Terrorists. Yet both of these groups have confined thier activities almost exclusivily to Israel.
I do think the US missed an opportunity for closer ties to Iran. For some reason Bush chose to include them in the Axix of evil
