Have been there lots. Am always ready to leave after 24 to 36 hours.

Daytime temps run 40+. Nightime gets to 33. That's Celsius.

One big a$$ mall, will be pretty much the only 'westernized' entertainment.

Best outside sound system money can buy on every mosque. Do not plan on sleeping thru prayer time.

Buy a raffle ticket in the departure/transit lounge at the airport. They raffle off top end new cars. Sell like only 100 tickets at $100 each for each car. Winner gets it delivered wherever in the world, tax free. Have several friends that have won.

Talk to someone that has done that job before. Make sure you include your tax planner in the discussion, I think I remember $85k in expat earnings US tax free if you stay out of the country 18 months. Get them to pay the overage taxes. You might consider having the income never cross the US border, but that in no way should be construed as tax advice from this citizen.

Lots to think about. There's probably a reason they are looking for an expat to do the job.
