We had some problems last night with both servers (both at the same time). Needless to say I was at the shop until 6:15AM this morning restoring Exchange and SQL Server. We're still not 100% back on email yet.
The truth of the matter is that this software was not really written to handle this amount of traffic! (Congrats!) As a result, I need to archive (for later posting on the site), all the previous posts, and then delete them from the system. I am hanging onto the content, so it's not lost, but it's a shame that I have to take it 'off the air' in the meantime.
I've pruned the messages now, and it should be working ok. Seems to start having problems when the number of posts exceeds 30,000.
Keep talking guys, this is a 'good' problem to have!
