A warrant is not required to search a car as long as there is probable cause to believe that a law has been broken regarding something in the car. if an officer has PC that there are drugs in the car(smell of marijuana for example) it may be searched along with all containers contained therein. If there is PC to believe that there have been illegal mods made to the car,then it can be searched without a warrant.
