Its not that hard. You get there early and walk the course a few times. I pick out some key cones I will need to get around the fastest. I also stand in spots and look to see a pickup point I need to look at. I am looking about 1-2 turns ahead of where I am. That is why I am suprised to see I was so close to some of the cones. I am really only dealing with about 6-8 cones on that course, once you memorize that your good to go. I can accomplish that with about 3 or 4 walk throughs.
This has helped my road course driving a lot. Road course seems to go in slow motion to me. In an AX I am making 12+ turns in 30 seconds. On a road course I get to really take my time set up and drive through the corner. In AX I am done with the turn before I am even in it.
