Why is your year of 911 the best?
I was just laughing at the post "1988 911 Photos" where owners of 1987 Carerras were ribbing him that his car was *almost* as good as a pretty much identical '87!
But everybody knows that the 1989 is the best year of the 911. Here's why:
*Last year of the original 1965-style body. You can swap doors, decklids, and windows with a '65!
*Last year of the torsion-bar suspended, manual steering 911s.
*Last year when cushy, weight-adding doo-dads like 4wd, automatic trans, automatic climate control, airbags, and power steering were not available (or mandatory).
*Last year of the Fuchs wheels.
*Only year that 8x16" rear Fuchs were standard.
*Last year of old fashioned, hand-built, non-robotic assembly at the Porsche factory. The 964 911s took 35% less labor to build, and were built on an entirely different (new) assembly line.
*Last year of the bulletproof 3.2 engine.
Why do you think your year of 911 is the best?
