Alright, I know I'm dredging this from page 10 or something like that. But I had the chance to drive the A3 2.0T w/DSG this past week. Fun, for sure. It's very cool to hear the blips of throttle on downshifts (which differentiates it from all the auto-boxes-with-paddles out there). And the computer can definitely do this faster than I can, which is important for racing purposes. Plus, having a true semi-manual gearbox, instead of a torque converter is neato from a technological perspective. But it's still not as satisfying (and engaging) as a perfectly-executed double-clutch downshift under heavy braking. Some enthusiasts will prefer the technology of DSG/SMG. But others, like me, will still appreciate (at least, for a street car) a DIY stick shift.
