Remember the whiny, insecure kid in nursery school, the one who always thought everyone was out to get him, and was always running to the teacher with complaints? Chances are he grew up to be a conservative.

I remember the biggest crybabies also being the ones picking fights and being aggressive, they were a volatile lot. If things did not go their way they would complain about it as if the whole world was terribly unjust. The expression; you are either for me or against me, comes to mind. A fatalistic bunch they could be, often desperate to keep others down in anyway possible. No joy in them unless others were being hurt or withheld their privileges though cries and false accusations.
