This does not surprise me at all. I had a '68 Camaro that ran better with Champion plugs than with anything else. I have had several International Harvester trucks and after trying several brands over the years, Autolites were the only thing that ran well and lasted more than a year.

It would not surprise me if each type of 911, mid-year, 911SC, Carrera, had a favorite plug. As for my current Carrera, when I bought it, it had single-electrode platinum plugs and it ran OK. I put plugs in it 4 months ago and the auto parts store was out of copper core plugs, so I put in plain steel core Bosch plugs. The car runs OK but the idle is a little rougher and I have lost about 1-2 mpg. So, this spring I'll try something else. I'll be interested in finding out how long the platinum plugs last in lvporschepilot's car.
