Hi Mark,
I have used the eye method as well as a clutch guide tool. There are a number of them, all depends an what gearbox you have, and the size of the main shaft. I've got one for a turbo, but it will be too thick for a 915 gearbox. What you need is an old 915 mainshaft, or something that approximates. If you call me I can give you the number of a guy who has a number of cut down shafts one of which may do the trick.
