A gun for self-defense, and a rifle for hunting is all anyone needs. Your question is incorrect. It's not for anyone, or everyone, to decide what a single man, woman, or responsible child needs for self defense. It is the decision of the one making a defense, and his or hers alone.
Self defense is a right. As such, it is not subject to arguments of social utility nor to the democratic process.
