My '68 is my greatest impulse buy of all time.

This was back in 1993, when a SWB car was just an inexpensive "used car." I heard it was on the dealer's lot and went out to take a look. Ended up taking it out for a test drive, drove by the house, and heard my lovely bride of 27 years announce "It's one of my colors."

So, have you ever known anyone who had their "colors" done? It was big back in the 80s. Someone would hold color swatches up to your skin a pronounce you a winter, spring, summer, fall. My wife is a fall, and falls look good in earth tones. I guess I was just lucky the car wasn't Guards Red. So I drove back to the dealership and bought it (it did take a little while before she got over the shock of my purchase, but not as long as I thought it would).

Discovered later the car had been owned for about 10 years by the brother of a good friend of mine (I'd never seen it all that time). One night I was parked down the block from his house; when I came out to go home, I found a folder with 10 years of service records, including a previously unknown full engine overhaul, tucked under the windshield wiper!
