Actually, IMHO, MetalMasters are very good STREET pads, but they're not a track pad. Continued, heavy use will cause fade (I have been told, I'm not a track guy myself). I've never noticed they required any greater pedal pressure than other street pads, however, dedicated track pads will required additional pressure until they heat up. I think, in this case, you were trying to keep up with a pretty fast (and light weight - a big factor) crowd.

I think Jurid and Ferodo (and probably others) make a street/track combination pad that may be more to your liking, but be aware they may be less "grippy" when cold and more dusty and/or squeal some.
