I love my Legacy, but it's not a GT. I was afraid to drive one because I couldn't afford it at the time and was afraid I'd have to buy one. 
Our dealership had one '05, still new, marked down to $23k a few weeks ago. I'm sure it's sold by now...
I agree...a Legacy could look very handsome in a convertible. Although I was thinking Impreza based for a more tossable car. It doesn't have to look like an Impreza...just act like one.
