Sadly, though, those who can afford these home sites are not always prepared for the change in lifestyle. Used to having things their own way, they can make long time residents miserable with complaints, threatened lawsuits and so on.

I hear you, I am 37 miles from my day job in Toledo, In this part of the country, Toledo and it's suburbs have expanded out about 15 miles in the last 20 years. I am still pretty safe for now, but you never know when a farmer will decide enough is enough and cash in some road frontage.
