Every now and then a car or bike magazine runs this kind of contest. The last one I remember was in both a car and bike magazine simutaneously; I believe they are sister publications.
The one I remember pitted a Viper against an FZR1000. The only contest the bike won was a drag race; the car beat it both on the open road and on a race track. They even let the bike run slicks, as it was chewing up its street tires so quickly in an effort to keep up wih the car. With all the rubber the car put on the ground, as compared to the smaller contact patches of the bike, it was really no contest.
