The Targa has been a great car so far. As for reliability I give it a 9 out of 10.
the typical things have needed attention like leaky valve covers the SAI and a loose relay for the fog lights and that's it. Oh, and a rattle in the glove box door. I did all the work myself. Other than those few things the car has been rock solid and dependable.
I also have an 88 cab that I do all the work on.
If you can work on an 82, you can fix most things on the new air cooled cars. There just more stuff to deal with and it's a little tigher in the engine compartment.
we've had the 88 since new,,, two words bullet proof :-))
