It goes pretty far back while still feeling stable. I can recline it to the seat's limit and not fall back, but at that point it's tipsy.
You can adjust the CG with the mounting point. The base on mine is just aft of center. I used some holes that were already in the steel. I'm sure if I moved the base a few inches aft it would be stable in full recline.
