I am an installer/salesman at a stereo shop in my town and carry XM. We actually get a lot of customers coming in that have sirius, wanting to switch to XM. XM is way ahead of sirius. Sirius doesnt really have a nice sleek looking unit that i would want in my car. They are pretty bulky and ugly. When a customer brings in a Sirius radio they want me to install i often have a hard time of where i can mount it without it blocking controls, screens, and look nice in the vehicle. Sirius also does not get very good reception, especially in trouble places where satallite radio is supposed to dominate. If it were me i would go XM all they way, i take Opie and Anthony over Howard Stern. As for your antenna location, on your dash, as close to the windshield as possible is a perfectly fine location for it.
