Then again, with a 90%+ carbon dioxide atmosphere, Venus has a surface temperature exceeding 800 degrees F. Granted, it is closer to the Sun, but that distance difference does not explain the ruaway temps. Mercury, even closer to the sun, with a tenuous atmosphere is not nearly as hot as Venus.
One or two degrees centigrade, on a planetary scale, is a considerable rise, enough to push climactic conditions in some areas one zone northward. Hey,it's warm enough down here in the Old Pueblo. Don't need a few more degrees!!
